Sweater weather is officially in full swing and you guys can probably tell from my Instagram that I’ve been living in nothing but cozy knits. It’s one of my wardrobe must-haves during this time of the year. Whether you wear them on their own or in layers, sweaters will always look appropriate and you can repurpose them in a variety of ways too. Lately, I’ve been keeping a few key sweater styles on repeat and wanted to share them with you guys. Since it’s impossible to get through the next few months without a wide variety of knitwear, you’ll definitely need to pick up a few new ones. Below, I rounded up some of the best sweater styles of the season below.
1. Off The Shoulder
An off the shoulder sweater is great way to refresh your fall wardrobe. It’s feminine and a little sexy but keeps you warm and cozy at the same time. When I’m going after a casual chic outfit, I’ll tuck an off the shoulder sweater into a pair of jeans and slip on a pair of pumps. You can never go wrong with this outfit formula.
2. Turtleneck
A turtleneck sweater is such a classic piece that every girl should own. Although I love chunky styles that you can wear over leggings, I’m also a fan of fitted turtleneck ones that can be layered underneath everything. The fact that it covers your neck is a huge bonus since you’ll stay warm and insulated.
3. Cardigan
No fall wardrobe is complete without a few cardigans. They’re my go-to for days where comfort is a priority because you can layer them over anything. I love pairing mine with satin camisoles, but when I really want to dress up a cardigan, I’ll cinch it in at the waist with a belt. It always looks so chic.
4. Statement Sleeve Sweater
It always amazes me how the slightest update can transform a sweater, and this season, it’s all about sleeve interest. From shoulder cut outs to balloon and bell sleeves, I’ve really been obsessed with this detail. I love how they add texture and interest to monochromatic outfits. As you can see, I’ve been wearing a ton of gray layers lately.
5. Chunky Sweater
A chunky knit is easily the most versatile sweater you can own. The full, voluminous cut means you can style it with skinny jeans, leather pants, or fitted pencil skirts. It’s so easy to dress up or down, especially if you have a longer style that can be worn as a sweater dress. For an extra layer of coziness, wrap yourself up in an equally chunky scarf.
6. Cropped Sweater
Cropped sweaters have also been trending lately and so many celebrities are styling theirs with boyfriend jeans, paper bag pants, and midi skirts. Personally, I love how they pair with high-waisted skinnies and pumps – it just looks so classic and sophisticated, but if you’re looking to put an edge on it, opt for combat boots instead. Cropped sweaters are great piece to own because you can take those summer maxi dresses into fall by throwing this one piece over it.
What are your favorite sweater styles this fall?
