Blog post – Investment Piece 3 Ways: The Trench Coat
Welcome to the first post on my new site! This site has been in the works since forever, and I’m really excited to finally share it with you all. Not only can I share more content, but you’ll hopefully be able to shop my pieces much easier than on Instagram. I’ll be sure to link out to everything possible.
I knew I wanted my first blog post to be about investment pieces, but ones that you can actually wear over and over. I rarely splurge on an investment piece unless I can see myself wearing it a few different ways. And since we all work hard for our money, I know you’ll love to see how to transition the investment pieces.
A classic trench coat is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet, and probably in the world. It’s a must, in my opinion. So I don’t mind spending more money on one – because I know I can wear it dressed up, down, and everything in between. Mine pictured here is Helmut Lang and it’s a favorite in my closet. If you’re considering a trench or have one and don’t know how to style it, see how I’ve done it below, three ways.
For Date Night
One of my favorite things to wear out at night is all black with a jacket as the statement piece. And nothing looks better with all black than a classic trench coat. On top, I have a simple black sweater, and on bottom, Frame leather jeans. You can add a hint of sexiness with thin, high ankle strap heels, and keep things black to make the outfit look flattering. My ankle straps are Stuart Weitzman and are another great investment piece that you can wear often. My studded bag is Valentino.
Once again, belt the trench. It’ll look cool with your black pants peeking out underneath, and you’ll still feel sexy with your ankle heels showing a hint of skin.

For Everyday Wear
Whether you’re going to a casual meeting, brunch with your girlfriends, or running errands, this is an easy way to wear the trench every day. I added a lace top for a moody, feminine touch, and cool denim on bottom. With black suede pumps and a sleek black bag, I like how this came together.
As for the trench, once again it’s belted. Even though the rest of the outfit is somewhat laid back, the belting pulls everything together for the style I like.

For Girl’s Night
This is an outfit that’s perfect for California winters, or any in-between seasons. I wear this look from fall to spring to date nights. First, you build your base of a leather mini skirt or any skirt option, then you top it off with a chunky sweater on top. With sleek black accessories, you’re keeping the outfit looking sultry and chic. I love these Balenciaga boots and wear them all the time with skirts or jeans. My bag is Boyy.
To complete the outfit, I like to throw on my trench but belted. This keeps people guessing what’s underneath, yet keeps you bundled up for colder weather. Even when some trench coats come with their own belt, I like to use my own to add something unique. A black patent leather one is a nice way to give the trench edge. This look would be good for work if the skirt was a longer pencil skirt, too.
